Overview

This role is for a GovCon Accountant to support monthly financial statement close, contract performance tracking, and government contracting accounting in a CAS environment. The position requires strong analytical skills, ownership of key accounting processes (including Accounts Payable), and the ability to work independently while driving process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the monthly close process and serve as a backup for team absences as needed.
  • Be cross-trained on close procedures, journal entries, and reconciliations to cover for others without disruption.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts to project ledger, research variances, and maintain audit-ready documentation.
  • Manage Accounts Payable (AP).
  • Partner with program and contracts teams to develop basis of estimates, supporting documentation, and regular program-level financial reporting.
  • Assess anticipated CAS coverage and obligations; lead development and maintenance of CAS Disclosure Statements (not subject to CAS yet).
  • Prepare and manage CAS-related reporting and support CAS audits or reviews (TBD).
  • Contribute to implementation of accounting tools (Bill.com, Concur) and new enterprise software.
  • Help design workflows, approval hierarchies, and integrations with the existing accounting system.
  • Support employee training and act as an internal go-to resource after launch.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Direct experience with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) in a government contracting environment, including CAS Disclosure Statements and CAS reporting.
  • Experience implementing accounting software.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, lead process improvements, and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience with U.K. subsidiary accounting is a nice to have, not required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with QuickBooks, Bill.com, Concur.
  • Prior involvement in DCAA and financial audits.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition methods (T&M, CPFF, FFP contracts).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $88,000 USD - $127,000 USD
