Overview

A mission-driven education-focused organization is seeking a strategic finance professional to join their Finance & Accounting Team. This team ensures the financial health and sustainability of the organization by supporting general accounting, planning, forecasting, and delivering timely, accurate insights. The role involves partnering across teams to enable strong decision-making and aligning resources to advance the organization's mission and maximize impact.

This position sits at the intersection of strategy, finance, and operations, working closely with senior leadership to analyze financial positions, shape priorities, evaluate tradeoffs, and drive key organizational decisions. A core focus is developing and refining models that inform pricing, demand, and revenue strategy, drawing on experience with commercial or consumer-oriented approaches to better understand drivers of growth, sustainability, and program impact.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own financial and operating models that inform pricing, demand, revenue strategy, and long-term planning
  • Generate insights from financial and operational data to drive strategic decisions, identify risks and opportunities, and improve performance
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, including scenario planning and variance analysis
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to determine short- and long-term fundraising needs, develop grant budgets, and manage expenditures against grants
  • Partner cross-functionally with program, development, and sales teams to align on priorities, track performance, and support execution
  • Synthesize complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership and the Board
  • Evaluate new programs, partnerships, and growth opportunities through financial modeling and ROI analysis

  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills with strong quantitative and analytical abilities
  • Insatiable curiosity to understand current and future programmatic plans and translate findings into strategic foresight
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate data and organizational systems to obtain necessary information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining financial concepts to both financial and non-financial stakeholders, including executives and board members
  • Ability to balance detailed numerical analysis with big-picture strategic thinking
  • Flexibility to adjust quickly to changing needs and produce multiple deliverable versions under tight deadlines
  • Strong business acumen to understand economic drivers and evaluate tradeoffs across growth, cost, and impact

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance, economics, or a related analytical field
  • 3-5+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), corporate finance, consulting, investment banking, or similar roles
  • Experience with commercial/consumer modeling and/or SaaS environments
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all organizational levels
  • Team player with eagerness to assist others
  • Self-starter capable of working independently
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information with strict confidentiality
  • Proficiency with database applications such as Excel VBA and other data analysis tools

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time, remote position
  • Salary range: $69,120 - $74,304, commensurate with experience
  • Higher salary range of $76,800 - $82,560 for specific higher cost-of-labor locations including New York City, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco/Oakland, San Jose, Seattle, Washington DC, and their metro areas
