Overview

A professional services firm is seeking a Director to join their Private Client Services (PCS) team within the Los Angeles practice. This is a remote position, though occasional presence at an office may be required for client work, team meetings, or training sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Review complex gift, estate, and fiduciary income tax returns
  • Review fiduciary accountings for trusts and estates
  • Provide tax planning and consulting services to high net worth clients regarding estate and individual income taxes
  • Read and summarize estate planning documents and provide guidance on federal and state income and death tax treatment
  • Research and consult on estate, gift, and trust-related issues, including trustee and beneficiary matters, tax impacts of estate administration, and generation-skipping tax issues
  • Generate business opportunities within existing clients and pursue new clients
  • Prepare and present technical training to specialty groups and the core tax department
  • Manage all aspects of client relationships
  • Lead and manage a team of professionals to complete engagements from start to finish

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's degree in Tax is a plus
  • CPA or JD certification required
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive tax experience with trusts, estates, and high net worth clients
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a public accounting firm
  • Strong tax research skills
  • Ability to lead, manage, and develop staff in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range in California: $225,000 - $325,000, determined by location, qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies

  • Remote position with the requirement to be located within the United States
  • May require occasional presence at the Los Angeles office or other locations as needed
