Overview
A global leader in student housing software is seeking a Tax Manager to establish and lead an in-house tax function. This role involves partnering closely with Finance, Legal, and external advisors to manage tax compliance and strategic planning across a complex international environment. The position offers an opportunity to move beyond traditional compliance into entity management, global cash optimization, and tax structure optimization.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end U.S. federal and multi-state income tax compliance for a multi-entity filing structure influenced by acquisitions
- Prepare and review tax filings, including apportionment, nexus analysis, registrations, and audit support
- Oversee tax calendars, estimated payments, extensions, and ensure timely, accurate filings across all jurisdictions
- Lead quarterly and annual tax provision processes (ASC 740), including current and deferred tax calculations, reconciliations, and support for financial reporting and audits
- Coordinate international tax compliance for Australia, UK, and India with external advisors; review filings and ensure alignment with global structure
- Support transfer pricing execution, intercompany agreements, and documentation in collaboration with external advisors
- Partner with Legal to manage global entity structure, including entity setup, maintenance, governance filings, and restructuring activities
- Collaborate with Finance on global cash management strategies such as repatriation, intercompany funding, dividends, and cash tax efficiency
- Identify and implement tax planning and structure optimization opportunities to improve global tax efficiency
- Develop and enhance tax processes, controls, and documentation to improve scalability and audit readiness
- Evaluate and implement tax and entity management systems to increase automation, visibility, and efficiency
- Manage relationships with external advisors to reduce reliance on outsourced work while maintaining technical quality and coverage
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 5 years of progressive tax experience
- Strong expertise in U.S. corporate income tax and multi-state compliance
- Experience with tax provision (ASC 740)
- Exposure to international tax concepts
- Familiarity with transfer pricing concepts and intercompany arrangements
- Proficiency with tax software and advanced Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution
- Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation strongly preferred
- Experience with Big 4 or top-tier public accounting firms
- Experience working with UK, Australia, India, or multinational tax structures
- Background in global SaaS or high-growth technology environments
- Exposure to tax structure optimization and post-acquisition integration
- Experience implementing or improving tax and entity management systems
- Familiarity with treasury-related tax considerations, including cash repatriation and intercompany funding structures
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $140,000 to $160,000 USD
- Full benefits package including health care, paid time off, life insurance, and 401(k) plan with company match for eligible employees
