Overview
This role is for a Tax Manager reporting directly to the VP of Tax. It combines hands-on execution with strategic responsibilities to build and maintain an efficient, high-functioning tax department. The position involves managing global tax compliance and strategy, with a focus on UK and US tax law, and emphasizes collaboration across business functions.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day tax department operations including account reconciliations, tax issue research, cash tax forecasting, and quarterly tax provision preparation.
- Oversee international tax and transfer pricing by monitoring inter-company transactions, maintaining transfer pricing documentation, and ensuring alignment across cross-border entities.
- Co-manage global tax compliance by coordinating preparation, review, and timely filing of corporate income tax returns across 12 countries, focusing on UK and US entities.
- Drive tax automation initiatives by designing and implementing automated workflows for data collection, tax provisioning, and compliance reporting.
- Lead tax data and systems management, including implementing new tax provision software and acting as the tax department super-user for financial systems to support IFRS/ASC 740 and global reporting.
- Serve as the primary operational liaison with external global tax advisors and regional accounting firms to ensure flawless and timely statutory compliance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Technology, Legal, and HR teams to advise on tax implications of commercial decisions, including indirect tax matters such as VAT and Sales & Use tax.
Requirements
- 4–7 years of progressive corporate tax experience in a regional or Big 4 public accounting firm or a multinational in-house corporate tax department.
- Strong relationship-building skills with a collaborative, proactive approach to communication and cross-functional partnership.
- Experience with multi-entity corporate structures and cross-border transactions, with solid knowledge of corporate income tax and US GAAP or IFRS accounting standards.
- Proven ability to leverage technology and automation tools to optimize tax and accounting workflows.
- Familiarity with corporate tax software and advanced data analytics and automation tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional credentials such as CPA, MST, or equivalent.
- Understanding of tax implications and risks related to M&A transactions.
- Experience in the technology sector.
- Strong conceptual knowledge of indirect tax frameworks including VAT/GST and US Sales & Use tax.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual On-Target Earnings (Base + Bonus): $128,480 - $160,600.
