Overview

A leading real-time location platform provider is seeking a Tax Manager to join their Finance team. This role is critical in planning and implementing the organization's global tax strategy. It is an individual contributor position focused on technical and functional ownership without personnel management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee various tax returns and filings including income tax, sales & use tax, gross receipts tax, franchise tax, value added tax, business tax and licenses, and property tax.
  • Coordinate with external teams and manage the annual tax provision.
  • Maintain the tax calendar to ensure timely compliance with filing obligations.
  • Respond to government tax agency audits, notices, and requests.
  • Assist with quarterly transfer pricing calculations and journal entries.
  • Analyze tax planning opportunities and income tax consequences of non-standard transactions and cross-functional business initiatives.
  • Prepare apportionment details for state income tax calculations.
  • Perform tax account analysis and month-end reconciliations related to all tax accounts.
  • Prepare tax footnotes and disclosures.
  • Stay current on new tax legislation and tax accounting rules; identify, assess, and document tax implications of changes.
  • Monitor sales & use and corporate tax nexus continuously.
  • Assist with corporate entity compliance, U.S. and international registrations, and new entity formation.
  • Support sales and legal teams by providing guidance on tax implications during deal negotiations.
  • Maintain all third-party software related to indirect sales tax (e.g., Avalara, Stripe).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Master’s degree in taxation preferred.
  • CPA certification or in the examination/licensing process preferred.
  • Minimum 6-10 years of tax experience required; experience in software industry is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
  • Experience with Netsuite, Avalara, and Stripe is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, able to multi-task with a focus on accuracy.
  • Dependable with strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual base compensation ranges from $131,325 to $170,000 for most U.S. locations.
  • Compensation may be 5% to 10% higher for U.S. locations with a higher cost of labor.
  • Final job level and compensation will be determined based on individual qualifications, skills, prior relevant experience, potential impact, role scope, market demands, and specific work location.
