Overview

A leading digital automotive platform is seeking a Tax Manager to lead and evolve its indirect tax function. This role requires strong indirect tax experience and operational agility, combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution. The Tax Manager will oversee all indirect taxes, including sales and use tax, property tax, gross receipts tax, and business licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all domestic indirect tax compliance, including U.S. Sales and Use Tax filings using Avalara for multiple entities.
  • Oversee property tax, gross receipts tax, and business license filings.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings, payments, and reconciliations.
  • Manage indirect tax audits, notices, and inquiries, coordinating documentation and responses with internal teams and external advisors.
  • Monitor and assess nexus exposure, taxability rules, and regulatory developments across jurisdictions to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Advise management on tax implications of new business initiatives and acquisitions as applicable.
  • Collaborate with outside auditors and advisors, managing audits and ensuring accurate, timely responses.
  • Perform month-end tax account reconciliations.
  • Support the Tax Director on income tax-related matters as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience in public accounting with a mid-tier or larger firm.
  • CPA license preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Strong indirect tax background, preferably with experience in technology-based and/or SaaS industries.
  • Experience with sales and use tax, property tax, and local/city tax filings.
  • Ability to identify issues, analyze, and interpret relevant tax laws for complex matters.
  • Superior analytical skills, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
  • Strong project management, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Advanced management and leadership skills, with ability to coach and motivate talent.
  • Collaborative and enthusiastic, maintaining high integrity and honesty.
  • Familiarity with Avalara and various ERP systems.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $96,000 - $128,000 USD per year.
