Overview

This role is responsible for running daily Treasury Operations and Reconciliations to ensure customer money moves safely and accurately across SEPA, instant payments, cards, and international transfers. The position is hands-on and senior, operating in a period of change as volumes grow, instant payments run around the clock, and new products introduce new money flows. The path to a banking license increases expectations for control, reconciliation, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Settlement & reconciliation (daily): Ensure every euro is settled correctly and reconciled where it should be.
  • Treasury operations: Perform daily funding of payment channels and the buffers behind them, around the clock; help bring new schemes and settlement models live safely.
  • Cross-entity reconciliation: Reconcile across banks, card schemes, payment processors, and custodians—progressing from daily balance checks to automated, transaction-level controls.
  • Safeguarding & reporting: Keep client money fully protected every day; ensure related regulatory and scheme reporting is accurate and on time.
  • Funds-flow engineering: Design how money moves for new products, markets, and partners before launch. This includes accounts, postings, safeguarding treatment, reconciliation, and incident behavior when something fails.
  • Escalation & incident management: Act as escalation point when money does not move as it should; build cross-team processes so incidents resolve fast and don’t repeat.
  • Process & automation: Document operations, remove single points of failure, and automate manual work in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Operational ownership vs. policy/execution: Capital, policies, models, investment decisions, and trade execution sit with the Head of Treasury; this role runs operations and determines when numbers stop matching reality, supporting independence across policy, execution, and reconciliation.

Requirements

  • Payment systems depth: Strong in-depth knowledge of payment systems.
  • Escalation readiness: Stay effective during money-impacting payment incidents.
  • Funds-flow engineering: Ability to engineer funds flows.
  • Experience: Experience in treasury operations, payment operations, or reconciliation at an e-money institution, payment institution, or bank.
  • Builder’s mindset: Convert manual, person-dependent work into documented, automated processes, working closely with engineers.
  • Incident handling: Have handled money-impacting payment incidents from first alert to resolution, working with banks, schemes, and internal teams.
  • Payment rails knowledge: Hands-on knowledge of rails such as SEPA, SWIFT and card schemes.
  • Funds-flow design experience: Active involvement designing or rebuilding money flows for new products or payment rails, including accounts, postings, safeguarding treatment, and reconciliation.
  • Control & clarity: Natural fit for segregation of duties and audit readiness; ability to explain complex money flows simply.
  • Language: Fluent English.
