Overview
An established Human Capital Management (HCM) consulting firm is seeking experienced professionals to join their HCM Managed Services team as Payroll Specialists. This role focuses on the accurate processing and reconciliation of payroll for clients using UKG Pro within a managed services environment. The position requires expertise in multi-state payroll processing and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic setting to deliver exceptional client service.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and timely, including audits, special projects, and quarter/year-end activities
- Assist team leadership in reconciling payroll inputs and outputs to ensure compliance with client requirements
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service
- Identify and escalate client dissatisfaction issues to management
- Maintain awareness of client Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and ensure adherence
- Comply with SOC 1 controls relevant to payroll tasks
- Set up and execute new payroll cycles, including manual HR or pay data entry
- Perform pre-calculation audits by analyzing reports and correcting discrepancies
- Run variance reports and review payroll data accuracy
- Balance payroll by investigating variances and determining corrective actions
- Process prior period adjustments such as manual checks, stop payments, and reversals
- Assist clients with quarter/year-end processing preparation
- Support clients during annual enrollment, including testing and end-dating activities
Requirements
- Experience with automated multi-corporation, multi-state payroll processing
- In-depth knowledge of payroll tax, accounting principles, and wage and hour laws
- Experience working with UKG payroll systems
- Strong verbal and written client service skills
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Proficiency with PC and Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel
- Highly motivated, team-oriented, and able to collaborate effectively across functions
- Human Resource and Payroll experience preferred
- Certifications such as Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), and/or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) are preferred
- Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or equivalent education and experience
