Overview
This full-time, fully remote W-2 role is for a Financial Planner to work alongside a lead planner, with support from an Associate Financial Planner and Paraplanner, serving clients in a modern, life-centered approach.
The clients are typically mid-to-late career professionals with household income above $500,000 and net worth above $3.5 million, and many have equity compensation from public or private companies.
The lead planner runs client meetings. In this role, you own the preparation process, participate as a full voice in meetings, and manage the follow-up work afterward. Deeper technical work is shared with the Associate Financial Planner, allowing you to focus on judgment, client conversations, and relationship development.
The role uses an internal AI assistant to support standard operating procedures (SOPs), planning workflows, and CRM-related activities.
Responsibilities
- Learn and apply the organization’s financial planning process (“the EYW way”).
- Lead client onboarding steps, including:
- Attending client discovery meetings alongside a behavioral specialist (with the lead planner guiding clients through the process).
- Leading the “get-organized” meeting for new clients.
- Leading the build of a new client’s initial recommendations and road map (with lead planner review).
- Attending the client initial recommendations meeting.
- Own the pre-meeting process:
- Build the meeting agenda and direct the team on deliverables (e.g., tax projections, investment analysis, eMoney scenarios).
- Collaborate with the lead planner to refine agenda topics from ~80%–90% to ~100% client-ready.
- Participate in client meetings as a full conversation partner while the lead planner leads the meeting.
- Own meeting follow-up end-to-end:
- Use the internal AI assistant to document decisions, next steps, responsible parties, and timelines.
- Schedule quick working sessions with clients directly when something needs to move before the next meeting.
- Provide ongoing client care:
- Triage incoming client questions and decide what to answer, what to delegate to the Associate Financial Planner or Paraplanner, and what to bring to the lead planner.
- Own day-to-day client email and handle the majority of ad-hoc planning questions independently.
- Handle most communication with clients’ other professionals (CPAs, estate attorneys, life insurance, and P&C insurance).
- Direct and drive completion of client action items by setting priorities, coordinating work with the team, and maintaining accountability for outcomes.
- Run the monthly process to review outstanding work and touchpoints across all client relationships.
- Conduct periodic “get shit done” meetings to complete action items and answer basic to intermediate planning and investment questions.
- Master Slant and manage entries, tasks, and workflows.
- Financial planning & investment planning:
- Lead conversations across cash flow, equity compensation, tax, estate, insurance, and employee benefits, with enough depth to move items forward and/or ask the right questions.
- Review and interpret data from equity compensation agreements, estate plans, life insurance policies, employee benefit guides, P&C insurance, and draft tax returns; understand what questions these documents raise.
- Delegate deeper technical work (eMoney scenarios, tax projections in Holistiplan, annual tax letters) to the Associate Financial Planner.
- Coordinate strategic investment work owned through the outsourced investment team.
- Learning and growth:
- Participate in financial therapy and communication training sessions and office hours.
- Participate in dedicated technical training with opportunities to take on more advanced planning work as skills progress.
