Accounting Advisory Associate

The organization is seeking a Remote Accounting Advisory Staff member to join its virtual team. This role supports entrepreneurial businesses with detail-oriented, client-focused accounting and advisory work.

All positions are fully remote with long-term work-from-home arrangements. During busy season, hours are capped at a maximum of 55 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of small business clients, including:
  • AP, AR, and payroll coordination
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Month-end close
• Prepare and deliver monthly and quarterly financial statements with clear, plain-English commentary for clients
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, building trusted advisor relationships throughout the year
• Provide advisory support on cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and KPI tracking tailored to each client’s business
• Review work prepared by staff accountants or bookkeepers and provide constructive feedback
• Identify process improvements and help clients clean up or optimize their accounting systems
• Onboard new clients, including chart of accounts setup, historical cleanup, and workflow documentation
• Participate in client kick-off meetings and ongoing check-in calls

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of full-cycle accounting experience, ideally across multiple clients (public accounting, outsourced accounting, or CAS background preferred)
• Proven experience managing books from transaction level through financial statement delivery
• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online; experience with Xero, Bill.com, or similar tools a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with comfort explaining financial concepts to non-accountants
• Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or actively pursuing CPA
• 1+ year of remote work experience
• Experience working with service-based business clients
