Accounting Manager, Consumer Goods

Overview

This role involves managing month-end close activities and consulting with clients on accounting and reporting. The position focuses on assembling a monthly financial packet and presenting financial statements to clients.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end closing and key accounting activities for clients, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of financial management reports, including monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets
• Produce and maintain cash flow projections (and updates) and communicate clients’ cash positions
• Create monthly financial packages, including:
  • Proper margin recognition
  • Reconcile and record transactions (Sales, Deferrals, Accruals, Returns, Discounts, Write-offs)
  • Monitor wholesale sales orders and related activity
• Manage inventory accounting, including:
  • Strong understanding of inventory
  • Reconciliation of inventory (Physical, Sub to GL)
  • Accruals, samples, inventory adjustments, obsolescence
  • Monitoring purchase orders (POs)
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements
• Reconcile other payment accounts (e.g., PayPal, Stripe)
• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and maintain a thorough understanding of amortization schedules
• Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Manage AR aging reports for clients
  • Manage AP in Bill.com (or related software) for clients
• Support payroll management for clients
• Collaborate with internal leadership to support the team
• Consult with clients on accounting-related work
• Maintain general ledger accountability and support:
  • Financial analysis and financial reporting
  • Special reports and financial profitability analysis
  • Other special projects as assigned

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in full cycle accounting
• 2+ years of experience in a multi-client or consulting role
• Advanced experience with QBO and Xero
• Strong Excel skills
• Firm grasp of accounting principles
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Proactive, team-centric attitude

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with e-commerce (Shopify, PayPal, Bill.com, etc.)
