Overview
This role involves leading core accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and strengthening the controls and processes that support a growing business. Reporting to the VP/Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager will bring structure to complex work, maintain high standards for accuracy, and balance recurring responsibilities with cross-functional coordination and special projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations and supervise accounting team members, ensuring timely completion of monthly close activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting deliverables
- Oversee preparation and review of monthly close entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting general ledger detail to maintain accurate accounting records
- Manage the monthly close process, including analytical review of operating results and month-over-month variance analysis; coordinate with FP&A for insights supporting board reporting
- Partner with the billing team to support accurate and timely client billing across recurring revenue, project-based work, and equipment or software resale
- Establish, document, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to strengthen accuracy, consistency, and risk management
- Support annual financial audits by coordinating deliverables, maintaining documentation, and serving as a liaison between external auditors and the accounting team
- Assist with corporate income tax support requests and facilitate data delivery to third-party providers for sales and use tax requirements
- Support M&A integration by aligning acquired businesses to accounting and billing processes, systems, and reporting standards
- Contribute to special projects, including ERP implementation and process improvement initiatives tied to accounting systems and workflows
- Assist with treasury, collections, accounts payable support, and other accounting priorities as needed
Requirements
- Ability to manage detailed accounting work while maintaining consistency across deadlines, reporting cycles, and team responsibilities
- Strong judgment in reviewing financial data, identifying discrepancies, and resolving issues within established accounting standards
- Clear written communication for documentation, reconciliations, audit support, and reporting needs
- Comfortable working within structured processes while improving workflows for greater efficiency and accuracy
- Ability to coordinate effectively across accounting, billing, FP&A, tax, and acquired business teams
- Working knowledge of ERP environments, accounting system changes, and process transition support
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance
- Experience in professional services, recurring billing environments, ERP implementations, accounting systems conversions, state and local tax administration, FCC filings, customer billing platforms, and P&L analysis
Certification
Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years managing direct reports
