Accounting/Accountant – AI Trainer - Remote

Overview

This contractor role offers an opportunity for a senior accountant to contribute expertise in accounting principles and financial reporting to the development of advanced AI systems. The position involves evaluating and refining AI-generated accounting content to improve accuracy and reasoning related to accounting standards and real-world business scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Assess AI-generated accounting explanations, journal entries, financial analyses, and scenario responses for accuracy and completeness.
• Challenge language models with realistic accounting prompts covering financial reporting, audit procedures, reconciliations, internal controls, and policy interpretation.
• Review and improve AI prompts and responses to ensure sound accounting logic and clear communication.
• Provide detailed feedback on model errors, reasoning gaps, unsupported assumptions, and misinterpretations of accounting rules or business context.
• Help shape AI communication standards to ensure clear and accurate explanations of accounting concepts for professional audiences.
• Support benchmarking by designing, reviewing, and validating accounting tasks to measure AI model performance at various complexity levels.
• Identify edge cases where AI may produce plausible but incorrect accounting conclusions.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of professional accounting experience with hands-on involvement in financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, audit support, or accounting operations.
• Deep knowledge of core accounting principles including GAAP, accrual accounting, journal entries, financial statement preparation, and account analysis.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, audit documentation, variance analysis, revenue recognition, expense classification, and accounting policy application.
• Proven ability to interpret financial data, identify discrepancies, and clearly explain accounting judgments to business stakeholders.
• Experience reviewing complex accounting work for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with professional standards.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field required.
• CPA, CMA, master's degree, or equivalent advanced accounting credential strongly preferred.
• Experience with AI data training, annotation, or evaluating AI-generated technical content is a strong plus.
