Accounts Recievable Specialist I - Digitech - Remote

Overview

A leading provider of advanced billing and technology services to the EMS transport industry is seeking an AR Management Specialist. This role supports all aspects of insurance and patient billing to ensure prompt and accurate payment for monies owed by patients and insurers.

Responsibilities

• Make telephone calls to patients, hospitals, insurance companies, facilities, and attorneys to research claims or obtain additional insurance information
• Contact insurance carriers regarding the status of past-due accounts
• Meet or exceed defined productivity and quality standards
• Document activity details on each account in the claims processing system
• Follow up on self-pay accounts, including contacting patients to inquire about insurance coverage or establish payment plans
• Maintain workflow to minimize aging accounts by daily follow-up on unpaid claims
• Follow up on accounts that have reached collections to ensure full workup before referral to external collection agencies
• Perform quality checks on assigned claims
• Maintain confidentiality of all assignments
• Perform job responsibilities according to company standards and state and federal guidelines
• Demonstrate compliance with all laws and regulations, including HIPAA
• Adhere consistently to attendance policies
• Complete additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year experience in healthcare claims processing, billing, or accounts receivable
• Hands-on experience preparing and submitting insurance appeals, understanding remittance advices, payer denial codes, and timely filing limits
• Familiarity with ICD-10, HCPCS, and general medical terminology
• EMS billing experience strongly preferred; other medical specialties considered
• Proficiency with web platforms including billing software and payer portals
• Prior customer service experience with ability to collaborate across departments
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
• Strong customer service, interpersonal, organizational, communication, and time-management skills
• Strong investigative and research skills to resolve complex billing issues
• Effective critical thinking and analytical abilities
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, adaptive environment with minimal supervision
• Ability to manage all aspects of the role and meet goals in a remote work environment
