Overview

This role involves assisting clients with a variety of accounting services, including analyzing and interpreting information from investment and trust companies, developing approaches to complete work, and effectively communicating financial statement reporting to clients and third-party representatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accounting for investments on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis to provide clients with traditional and/or trust accounting financial statements.
  • Interview clients to determine accounting service needs and request necessary information via email, face-to-face meetings, or telephone.
  • Analyze and interpret client information, understand their situations, develop effective approaches, and recommend systems and procedures.
  • Train, mentor, develop, and motivate staff to provide exceptional client service while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Provide cash management services, including maintaining adequate cash balances for accounts payable and payroll, and transferring funds as needed.
  • Compose correspondence to staff, clients, governing agencies, or others as required.
  • Reconcile trial balances, convert cash basis to accrual accounting, assist with complex accounting issues, and reconcile equity accounts to tax returns for various entity types.
  • Plan and oversee projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and completion within budget while managing multiple engagements.
  • Perform tasks such as reconciling bank statements, financial statements, accounts, making journal entries, reconciling W-2s with payroll tax reports, and balancing to the general ledger.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2-5 years of tax, auditing, or accounting experience at a public accounting firm.
  • Experience in a professional office setting with extensive client contact.
  • Ability to anticipate client needs and make independent decisions on significant matters.
  • Proficiency with write-up software and ability to train clients and staff on software, accounting, and payroll issues.
  • Experience using various computerized in-house software platforms for electronic preparation of tax returns, payrolls, and reports in a paperless environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills with clear communication abilities in one-to-one and small group settings, including handling escalating situations professionally.
  • Superior knowledge of software platforms used.
  • Ability to establish professional rapport with clients and colleagues, demonstrating courtesy and tact.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
