Cash Application Specialist

Overview

This role supports a high-volume accounts receivable cleanup project by researching and resolving unapplied cash, payment discrepancies, remittance gaps, and other exception items. You will apply defined procedures to accurately match and post payments, reconcile customer accounts, document findings, and help drive timely resolution of aged transactions in the client’s systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze high-volume cash application and accounts receivable transactions to identify the correct customer, invoice, payment, credit, or refund disposition.
• Research and resolve unapplied cash, missing or incomplete remittance, payment discrepancies, duplicate or incorrect applications, and other exception items using available records and client systems.
• Accurately match and post payments, credits, write-offs, refunds, and account updates in accordance with documented client procedures and approval requirements.
• Reconcile account activity and maintain complete, accurate documentation of research performed, decisions made, actions taken, and items requiring escalation.
• Manage assigned work queues and transaction volumes while meeting established productivity, quality, accuracy, and turnaround expectations.

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of payments, invoices, account reconciliation, or finance.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills and ability to learn systems such as Oracle.
• Strong time management and prioritization skills.
• Proactive and accountable, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication skills, including confidence in handling calls and emails.
• Flexibility to manage a project with limited time off in the first months.
• Previous experience in Accounts Receivable or finance is a strong advantage.
