Overview
The organization is seeking a motivated Client Accountant to lead day-to-day delivery within its client accounting practice. This is a hands-on supervisory role responsible for managing a portfolio of client relationships, reviewing accounting work, and serving as the escalation point when items do not reconcile.
Clients served include organizations in the automotive retail, construction, manufacturing, distribution, and other for-profit industries. Many rely on the firm as their outsourced accounting department for monthly close, financial statement preparation, and clear reporting for business owners.
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly and quarterly close for a portfolio of clients, including:
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Accruals
- Fixed assets
- Journal entries
- Prepare and review compiled financial statements and management reporting packages
- Review payroll processing, sales and use tax filings, and 1099 reporting prepared by the team
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for client owners, controllers, and office staff
- Lead onboarding for new client accounting engagements, including:
- Chart of accounts design
- Software conversion
- Documentation of recurring procedures
- Coordinate with the tax team to deliver clean year-end books and supporting workpapers
- Identify and implement process and technology improvements that reduce manual work across the client base
Requirements
- 5+ years of client accounting, bookkeeping, or outsourced accounting experience, including work in a public accounting or multi-client environment
- Prior experience supervising, reviewing, or training accounting staff is a plus
- Working knowledge of GAAP as applied to closely held businesses
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Excel
- Strong attention to detail and the judgment to know when something needs escalation
- Integrity within a professional environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification
- Experience with CCH Axcess and cloud accounting workflow tools
- Experience with payroll platforms and multi-state sales tax compliance
- Active CPA or CMA
