Commercial Construction Accountant

Overview

A growing commercial construction company with nearly 40 years of experience and projects across six states is seeking a Commercial Construction Accountant. This is a 100% remote, permanent direct hire position offering a salary up to $85,000 plus bonus. The role includes excellent benefits such as a 5% 401(k) match and generous paid time off.

Responsibilities

• Report to the CFO and prepare/post journal entries.
• Support the month-end close process, including reconciliations and work-in-progress (WIP) accounting.
• Manage monthly customer billing by generating invoices, validating schedules of values, collaborating with project managers on billing requirements, and monitoring project revenue, budgets, and contract balances.
• Review and distribute accounts payable reports, ensure proper coding of corporate card transactions and employee expenses.
• Assist with collections by following up on outstanding customer receivables.
• Support payroll processing by reviewing timecards, mileage, per diem, and reimbursement data, and recording payroll-related journal entries.
• Administer sales tax filings, year-end 1099 reporting, insurance and compliance documentation.
• Support intercompany transactions.

Requirements

• Experience in commercial construction accounting.
• Comfortable working with manual accounting processes.
• Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables.
