Overview

A growing consumer packaged goods (CPG) brand is seeking a Commercial Finance Manager to support its expanding retail and club business. The organization develops, manufactures, and fulfills products in-house and is scaling rapidly with major nationwide retail and club partners. This role offers high ownership and impact in building financial infrastructure and driving profitable growth.

Responsibilities

Customer & Channel P&L Ownership

  • Build, own, and continuously improve customer-level P&Ls across retail and club channels including Costco, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Target, and other key accounts.
  • Establish clear channel-level profitability views to identify profit sources and margin leaks.
  • Validate all inputs into the commercial P&L such as volume, price, mix, trade, and cost.
  • Develop volume/price/mix variance analyses to explain revenue and profit changes in actionable terms.

Trade & Revenue Growth Management

  • Plan, track, and assess promotional and trade investments, quantifying ROI by customer, event, and tactic.
  • Improve trade spend efficiency by identifying low-return promotions and reallocating investments.
  • Support sales operations with gross-to-net mechanics including deductions, disputes, and trade forecasting.

Pricing & Commercialization Support

  • Provide financial analysis for pricing decisions including list price changes and customer-specific pricing.
  • Support new product commercialization and customer launches with item-level profitability and gross-to-net modeling.

Reporting Infrastructure

  • Develop reliable, repeatable customer P&L and trade reporting systems.
  • Build dashboards and scorecards to regularly present customer and channel profitability to decision-makers.
  • Integrate sales forecasting tools with financial forecasts to keep projections current.
  • Collaborate with Finance leadership and data teams to integrate ERP, trade, and syndicated data.
  • Maintain and enhance FP&A tools.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Account teams on customer planning, joint business planning, and negotiation preparation.
  • Align with Marketing and Brand teams on promotional planning and spend efficiency.
  • Serve as a financial thought partner to the VP of Finance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in commercial finance, FP&A, trade finance, pricing, or revenue growth management, preferably in CPG, food & beverage, or similar consumer products.
  • Experience with retail and/or club channel customers such as Costco, Sam’s Club, Walmart, and Target.
  • Proven ownership of customer or channel P&Ls and trade investment analysis.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Proficiency with BI/visualization tools like Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Familiarity with trade/RGM platforms and syndicated data sources (e.g., Confido, SPINS, Circana/Nielsen); QuickBooks experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of gross-to-net mechanics, volume/price/mix variance, and profitability levers.
  • Ability to partner and influence across organizational levels.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong drive to execute and deliver results.
  • Adaptability and eagerness to learn new processes, technologies, and approaches.
