Corporate Accountant Jr (CPA Preferred)

Overview

A contract opportunity is available for a Corporate Accountant Jr (CPA preferred) with a duration of 6+ months and potential for long-term engagement. The position is based in Oakbrook Terrace, IL, with remote work options available within Central or Eastern Standard Time zones.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Support the annual audit process by providing documentation and explanations for financial transactions.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Analyze financial data and prepare ad-hoc reports as needed.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
• Collaborate with other departments to support financial planning and analysis efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent; CPA preferred.
• 2-4 years of related experience, preferably at a large public company or auditing large public companies.
• Strong knowledge of accounting theory, principles, practices, and regulations including FASB/GAAP and SOX compliance.
• Ability to document a broad range of issues in work papers, disclosures, and memos.
• Strong analytical skills with sound judgment.
• Experience using technology to improve process efficiency.
• Effective team-building and leadership skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $40 - $45 per hour.
