Overview

A well-established financial institution with over 150 years of service in Southern New England is seeking a Commercial Credit Analyst. This role is essential in evaluating the financial health and creditworthiness of commercial clients to support lending activities. The position involves analyzing complex financial data, preparing detailed credit memos, underwriting loan requests, and collaborating with loan officers to ensure sound credit decisions and compliance with lending policies.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze loan data and financial information for new, renewal, and existing commercial loans using data from credit bureaus, financial institutions, and internal files.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit memos, underwriting reports, spreadsheets, and summaries to assist loan officers in decision-making.
  • Assign risk ratings to borrowers based on financial analysis and credit assessment.
  • Provide technical expertise and insights to loan officers during the underwriting process.
  • Evaluate collateral, financial statements, and credit reports to determine borrower creditworthiness.
  • Ensure all credit requests comply with internal policies and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor the loan portfolio to identify potential risks and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Assist in developing and refining credit policies and procedures to improve efficiency and risk management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support lending operations and strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two years of credit analysis experience or at least one year as a Junior Commercial Credit Analyst.
  • Strong financial analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel for data analysis and report generation.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and accurately assess credit risk.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending practices and credit underwriting procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $70,000 to $100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
