Overview

A global leader in the foodservice distribution industry is seeking a Credit and Collections Specialist to join their finance team. This role involves managing credit applications, analyzing customer creditworthiness, and overseeing collections processes to optimize cash flow and minimize financial risk. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to the financial stability of the organization while working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and approve or deny customer credit applications based on credit policies and risk assessments
  • Manage credit hold policies by reviewing customer account statuses, payment histories, and collections activities to ensure timely resolution of overdue accounts
  • Communicate clearly with Marketing Associates regarding customer accounts
  • Handle escalated collection cases to facilitate effective resolution
  • Regularly review customer files to monitor risk levels and ensure compliance with audit controls
  • Make informed recommendations on bad debt management and write-offs
  • Research and resolve account disputes, rejected or returned payments, and missed invoices
  • Communicate with customers to reconcile payments and collect past-due balances
  • Prepare accurate accounting statements and financial reports to support management decision-making
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless financial operations and uphold compliance and customer service standards

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of college education and/or relevant experience in credit, collections, or accounting
  • At least one year of prior experience in credit or collections, including processing customer ACH and credit card payments
  • Preferred minimum of two years of experience in accounting, accounts receivable, or related fields
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and ERP systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid financial analysis capabilities
