Overview

This role involves managing accounts receivable (AR) claim follow-up specifically for dental insurance claims. The position supports the reimbursement cycle by reviewing, transmitting, and correcting dental insurance claims to ensure accuracy and timely payment.

Responsibilities

  • Review and transmit dental insurance claims using both electronic and manual (paper) methods.
  • Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness; obtain missing information as needed.
  • Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurance carriers.
  • Correct Medicaid claims through the appropriate portal or Direct Data Entry (DDE) system.
  • Analyze frequent or repeated claim edits/errors to identify opportunities to streamline the billing process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferred: Courses in Insurance Dental Billing and Dental Terminology.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in dental aging follow-up, including familiarity with third-party healthcare claims.
  • Preferred: Experience with Dentrix software.
  • Knowledge of the revenue cycle process.
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology.
  • Intermediate math skills for calculating charges, co-payments, deductibles, and reconciling financial data.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with insurance carrier claims resolution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

Physical Demands

  • Regular eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
  • Ability to work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours per day in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
  • Occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to manage elevated stress levels during periods of increased activity and multiple deadlines.
