Overview

This Director, FP&A is a senior finance leadership role focused on shaping where a rapidly-accelerating healthcare organization goes—not just reporting where it has been. You will own the company’s planning architecture and partner directly with the CFO on key decisions, including capital allocation, pursued contracts and partnerships, pricing risk, and building toward profitable scale.

You will lead FP&A through the annual budgeting cycle and long-range planning process, building financial models and an operating rhythm that gives the CEO and leadership team a clear, forward-looking view of the business. The role includes regular exposure to the Board, lenders, and investors.

Responsibilities

Planning, Forecasting & Team Leadership

  • Own the company’s planning strategy by building and leading the budget and multi-year LRP process, translating corporate strategy into financial targets, resource allocation, and operating plans.
  • Build and maintain the 13-week rolling cash forecast and connect it to operating forecasts and capital planning, working with the Controllership team on AP payment timing and treasury inputs.
  • Run monthly forecast and reforecast cycles and deliver variance analysis explaining drivers of results and recommended actions.
  • Build driver-based models for revenue, membership, utilization, supplier mix, and cost of care, including capitated payer mechanics (PMPM, payments lags, completion factors).
  • Partner with Controllership to ensure forecast methodology, accruals, and actuals reconcile.
  • Build, lead, and mentor the FP&A team; set expectations for model quality, documentation, and analytical rigor.

Executive Insight, Strategic Partnership & Vendor Management

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO and CFO by framing options, quantifying tradeoffs, and making recommendations on investments, growth initiatives, and operating priorities.
  • Lead scenario and sensitivity analysis for capital strategy, including lender, surety, and investor discussions.
  • Support pricing, payer contract negotiations, and strategic partnership decisions using rigorous financial modeling and unit economics.
  • Run the OKR and KPI framework; own MBR and Board reporting, turning complex data into clear narratives and decision support.
  • Partner with Network, Product, and Operations to evaluate utilization trends, initiative ROI, and resource allocation.
  • Own vendor management as a strategic cost lever:
    • Maintain the contract and renewal calendar
    • Review agreements for cost and risk exposure (payment terms, credit limits, seat and usage true-ups, auto-renewals)
    • Lead negotiations with business owners
    • Report vendor spend against budget

Note: Responsibilities reflect the general nature and scope of the role and are not exhaustive. The responsibilities may evolve to meet changing business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate development, corporate finance, strategy, or investment-oriented finance, with at least 4 years leading teams.
  • Demonstrated record of influencing executive decisions.
  • Hands-on model-building credibility, including ability to build from scratch (e.g., three-statement model, cohort-based forecast, or cash forecast) and own the logic.
  • Experience leveraging AI to accelerate core FP&A workflows.
  • Experience negotiating vendor or commercial terms in a cost-constrained environment.
  • Strong command of Excel and modern planning tools.
  • Comfort with SQL and BI tools (Snowflake and Sigma is a plus).
  • Experience in a high-growth, high-performance environment.
  • Exceptional executive communication, including the ability to present to a Board and defend a point of view.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, imperfect data, and a finance function mid-rebuild.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare experience, ideally value-based care, Medicare Advantage, capitation, or risk-bearing provider models.
  • Familiarity with claims lag triangles, IBNR, and/or completion-factor methodology.
  • Experience with DME, healthcare services, or payer-provider contracting.
  • Exposure to capital markets, lender, or investor engagement.
  • Exposure to Sage or comparable mid-market ERPs.
  • Prior experience in strategy, corporate development, consulting, or investment banking.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $161,600 – $202,000 annually.
  • Final compensation will be based on relevant experience, demonstrated skills, internal equity, and prevailing market conditions. Compensation discussions are encouraged throughout the hiring process.

Benefits include:

  • Professional growth opportunities with compelling career paths
  • Healthy work-life balance supported by flexible paid time off (PTO)
  • Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, STD & LTD insurance for full-time team members)
  • 401(k) savings plan with employer matching contributions
