Overview

This role is with a global investment bank delivering financial advisory, capital markets, and institutional research services worldwide. The organization is seeking an Equity Research Analyst to join its Global Market Research division.

You will be embedded within a specific industry coverage sector (for example: Technology, Healthcare, or Consumer Retail). Working under a Senior Lead Analyst, you will conduct fundamental research, build predictive valuation models, and analyze macroeconomic trends to produce institutional-grade research used by major hedge funds and asset managers.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Modeling & Valuation: Build, update, and maintain detailed, dynamic three-statement financial models (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) to project public company earnings and calculate intrinsic value using DCF (Discounted Cash Flow) and multiples-based valuations.
  • Proprietary Market Research: Compile and synthesize primary data by reviewing corporate SEC filings (10-Ks, 10-Qs), attending quarterly earnings calls, interviewing industry experts, and tracking channel-check data to identify emerging industry trends.
  • Research Report Drafting: Support drafting comprehensive company-specific notes, industry thematic reports, and flash earnings updates, translating complex financial data into a cohesive investment thesis.
  • Database & Coverage Maintenance: Maintain accurate, real-time tracking of sector-specific operational KPIs, valuation metrics, and consensus estimates to ensure high-quality research coverage.
  • Client Presentation Support: Assist senior team members with presentation decks, data visualizations, and briefing materials for institutional client inquiries and internal sales and trading teams.

Requirements

  • Education & Domain Literacy: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Computer Science, Mathematics, or another highly quantitative discipline with strong academic performance. Enrollment in or desire to pursue the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation is a plus.
  • Professional/Academic Experience: 0 to 2 years of experience, including intense investment banking or equity research internships, leadership in university student-managed investment funds, or participation in global financial modeling competitions.
  • Advanced Financial Modeling Aptitude: Strong, hands-on mastery of Microsoft Excel. Foundational accounting knowledge and the ability to link corporate financial statements.
  • Analytical Tools & Terminal Fluency: Familiarity with financial data infrastructure such as Bloomberg, FactSet, or Capital IQ is advantageous but not required (training provided).
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to data aggregation, skepticism toward unverified numbers, and drive to uncover the “story behind the data.”
  • Writing & Communication Polish: Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to synthesize hundreds of pages of raw data into a clear, compelling written argument.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
  • Salary Range: $100,000 – $130,000 base structure
  • Additional Compensation: Performance-driven year-end banking bonus
  • Benefits: Premium corporate benefits
