Overview

This hybrid, builder-focused role combines Finance (FP&A) and Accounting. The position involves owning full-charge accounting and monthly close while building budgeting, forecasting, and reporting infrastructure from the ground up. You will also provide financial modeling that informs retail pricing, SKU strategy, and channel expansion decisions.

You will report to the CEO and work closely with the Head of Data.

Responsibilities

  • Own full-charge bookkeeping, monthly close, and accurate financial statement preparation.
  • Establish COGS tracking by channel and product.
  • Build and own company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting.
  • Design and maintain a retail-specific contribution margin model that accounts for distribution, trade marketing, slotting, and other retail cost structures distinct from DTC.
  • Partner with the founding team on the financial logic behind retail expansion decisions, including pricing, door count, and SKU selection.
  • Establish labor cost and budget tracking by business unit, tied to marketing efficiency metrics (CAC, LTV, MER).
  • Lay the groundwork for the future finance function’s structure, including team build-out as scope expands.

Requirements

  • Solid accounting fundamentals and comfort owning books and running the close independently as the first dedicated finance hire.
  • Experience owning FP&A at a growth-stage consumer/DTC brand, ideally as an early or founding finance hire.
  • Direct experience modeling retail unit economics; understanding that retail success is driven by velocity and margin (not price matching).
  • Comfort building and formalizing infrastructure and processes across both accounting and FP&A.
  • Ability to communicate financial complexity in ways that non-finance stakeholders can act on.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Track record of translating unit economics, cash flow, and operational metrics into decisions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation and benefits details were not provided.

Location / Working Hours

  • WORKING HOURS: REMOTE-FIRST & ASYNCHRONOUS
  • Strong overlap with US business hours is required because the role is integrated with weekly and monthly payment cycles.
  • Central Time Zone (CST) preferred for real-time troubleshooting, banking approvals, and communication.

Application Process

  • Apply with your resume and a brief breakdown of a dynamic financial model you built for a DTC e-commerce business.
  • In your breakdown, highlight:
    • Your approach to modeling unit economics (e.g., blend of DTC vs. wholesale margins; marketing efficiency metrics like CAC and MER).
    • How you structured cash flow and inventory forecasting to support rapid scaling and product reorder cycles.
  • No third-party or agency submissions will be accepted.
