Overview
This role involves partnering with business leaders to manage and execute the financial plan across the organization. The Finance Manager on the FP&A team is accountable for accurate forecasting and planning, accruals, and month-end close, while helping leaders optimize resourcing.
The position blends strong accounting fundamentals with business judgment and uses AI tools to reduce manual work so more time can be spent on analysis and decision support.
Responsibilities
- Business partnering: Serve as the finance counterpart to department leaders; build trust, challenge assumptions constructively, and translate financial results into decisions on headcount, vendors, and investment priorities.
- Executive reporting: Prepare clear, accurate expense reporting and talking points for the CFO and senior leaders; keep communications concise, lead with key takeaways, and recommend next steps.
- Forecasting and budgeting: Run the annual budget and quarterly forecast cycles; convert business plans into well-supported expense forecasts and keep them current as conditions change.
- Expense management: Own operating expense planning, forecasting, and variance analysis for assigned organizations; track spend against budget, flag risks and opportunities early, and recommend actions.
- Month-end close and accruals: Lead the FP&A side of the monthly close; prepare and review accruals, prepaids, and reclasses; partner with Accounting to ensure expenses are recorded accurately and on time; explain budget vs. actual variances with clear, concise commentary.
- Process improvement with AI: Identify manual, repetitive steps in accrual, reporting, and forecasting workflows; redesign them using AI tools and automation; build repeatable processes, document them, and share learnings with the broader team.
- Vendor and spend insights: Analyze vendor and category spend, contract commitments, and run-rate trends; support savings initiatives and business cases with Procurement and budget owners.
Requirements
- Experience: 5 to 8+ years in FP&A, corporate finance, or accounting, with hands-on month-end close experience; high growth SaaS or fintech experience preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA or MBA is a plus.
- Strong accounting fundamentals, including accruals, prepaids, and expense recognition; ability to manage these through the close.
- Proven ability to partner with and influence senior business leaders.
- Experience using AI tools (for example, Claude or similar) to automate analysis, reporting, or other finance workflows.
- Working knowledge of ERP and planning systems (for example, NetSuite and Adaptive Planning) and advanced Excel.
