Overview
This role is for a Financial Analyst supporting financial planning, variance analysis, and reporting. Work combines spreadsheet modeling with careful review of assumptions, variances, and financial trends so stakeholders can understand what changed and why it matters.
Assignments may include:
- Updating a forecast
- Reviewing actual results against a budget
- Preparing management reports
- Testing how changes in assumptions affect expected outcomes
Location: Remote - United States
Job Type: Full Time
Salary: $70,000-$78,000 per year
Responsibilities
- Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
- Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
- Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so the work remains understandable and reusable.
- Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
- Help improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
Requirements
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain drivers behind a financial change.
- Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
- Comfort learning organization-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
- Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
- Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
Additional Expectations
- Variance analysis should go beyond stating that a number is higher or lower. Where information allows, identify operational or financial drivers behind the movement and explain whether the difference appears temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
- Use good judgment when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent: investigate the source, document the limitation, and avoid presenting an uncertain result as more precise than it is.
- Because the position is remote, dependable communication and self-management are important. You will be expected to organize your work, respond to reasonable requests for updates, and use shared digital tools in a way that keeps responsibilities visible and handoffs clear.
