Overview
This role focuses on driving AWS cloud cost optimization and improving cloud margins across a SaaS product portfolio. Operating within the Finance organization with a strong FinOps orientation, the analyst will be hands-on in identifying, tracking, and executing cost reduction initiatives in partnership with Cloud and Development teams. The position requires a finance foundation combined with technical aptitude to navigate AWS billing data, work with large datasets, and collaborate with engineering teams to translate cost drivers into actionable savings. The analyst will contribute to cloud margin reporting, savings tracking, and fostering a cost-aware development culture.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the AWS cloud cost savings tracker, monitoring initiative progress against budget targets across Cloud Team and Development-Dependent workstreams.
- Analyze AWS Cost and Usage Reports (CUR) and billing data to identify optimization opportunities.
- Build and maintain cloud margin reporting by product line, partnering with Accounting and Engineering to ensure AWS cost allocations are accurate and tied to revenue-generating services.
- Collaborate with development teams to build cost awareness into the engineering culture, translating how code and architecture decisions (instance sizing, data transfer patterns, storage tiers, etc.) impact AWS spend.
- Evaluate and manage AWS commitment instruments (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans), monitoring coverage, utilization, and identifying stranded or expiring commitments.
- Design and maintain dashboards and data visualizations that surface cloud cost trends, savings performance, and margin data for finance and executive stakeholders.
- Respond to ad-hoc requests for cloud cost analysis and reporting; develop reusable queries and models to reduce manual effort.
- Serve as a key contributor on cross-functional and companywide financial analysis initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, including at least 1 year in cloud cost management, FinOps, or cloud finance.
- Direct experience with AWS billing and cost optimization is strongly preferred.
- Experience in software or SaaS companies is strongly preferred; familiarity with cloud-hosted product cost structures and gross margin economics is a significant plus.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cost tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports (CUR), Trusted Advisor, Compute Optimizer, or third-party FinOps platforms (e.g., CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability).
- Strong data skills with the ability to work with high-volume datasets using Excel, SQL, or Python to extract meaningful cost insights.
- Technical aptitude is a differentiator; candidates with hands-on AWS experience (console navigation, tagging strategy, resource rightsizing), scripting ability (Python, SQL), or prior work in DevOps or cloud engineering-adjacent roles will stand out.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate analysis is a plus.

- Competitive compensation package.
- Benefits designed to support work-life balance, including tuition reimbursement, parental leave, paid volunteer hours, and unlimited paid time off.
- Flexible work environment with options for remote or in-office work.
