Sr. Business Analyst, Capital One Shopping (Remote-Eligible)

Overview

This role is part of a consumer shopping team building a new consumer product and delivering a shopping and savings experience for customers while driving incremental, sustainable sales for merchant partners. The position requires a mix of creative problem-solving, analytics, and technical proficiency, along with strong cross-functional execution.

Responsibilities

• Analysis: Identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement and solve them using analysis to make strategic or tactical recommendations.
• Product/Analytics: Perform modeling/analytics to support new product and pricing strategies for various lending products.
• Marketing Support: Support direct-to-consumer marketing efforts for select products and strategic intent for products distributed through the retail channel. Build targeted insights to inform the design and development of new customer experiences and breakthrough technology/concepts for new go-to-market strategies.
• Credit Risk: Support improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of future consumer credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis.
• Execution: Use problem frameworks, develop hypotheses, test and analyze, develop solutions, assess operational feasibility, lead implementation efforts, and develop a monitoring plan.
• Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across IT, Sales, Operations, Finance, and others to improve quality, volume, service, and profitability.
• Decision Making & Communication: Demonstrate a strong quantitative orientation for analytics-driven marketing and credit risk management, provide strategic recommendations, and influence stakeholders to drive alignment.

Requirements (Basic Qualifications)

• At least 2 years of professional experience performing analysis.
• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following (with the expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date):
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field, such as Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field; or
  • A Master’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field; or an MBA with a quantitative concentration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Business or a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, or Engineering.
• 1+ years of experience in statistical model building.
• 1+ years of experience in market research.
• 1+ years of experience in SQL querying.
• 2+ years of experience in business analysis.
• 1+ years of experience in consulting.

Compensation & Benefits

• Performance-based incentive compensation is available and may include cash bonus(es) and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.

Minimum and maximum full-time annual salary ranges by location:

• McLean, VA: $111,200 - $126,900 (Sr. Business Analyst)
• New York, NY: $121,300 - $138,400 (Sr. Business Analyst)
• Remote (Regardless of Location): $101,100 - $115,400 (Sr. Business Analyst)

Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on the agreed upon number of hours regularly worked. Candidates hired for other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
