Overview

A leading homebuilding organization is seeking a Financial Analyst to support financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions. This role involves preparing quarterly forecasts, collaborating on annual business plans, conducting variance analyses, and integrating mortgage performance data with builder activities. The position requires developing financial dashboards using business intelligence tools and partnering with various departments to support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation of quarterly forecast packages, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data for financial planning.
  • Assist in developing annual business plans and monthly/quarterly financial forecasts.
  • Conduct variance analyses comparing actual results to forecasts and budgets, providing actionable insights.
  • Prepare detailed reports integrating mortgage performance with sales, closings, and financing trends.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators related to loan origination, profitability, and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize BI tools such as Power BI to create dashboards and visual reports.
  • Report on market share, competitor earnings, and industry trends to inform strategic planning.
  • Partner with HR and Operations to analyze operational capacity and optimize resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with IT to maintain analytical datasets ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Participate in corporate and branch budget processes.
  • Develop ad-hoc analytics and reports to support strategic and operational decisions.
  • Create manuals and visual documentation for end-users.
  • Contribute to process improvements and best practices within the finance team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in financial or management reporting, financial modeling, and account reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, including VBA programming.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Hyperion EPM, and JD Edwards.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience in variance analysis, KPI monitoring, and capacity modeling is advantageous.
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating mortgage and builder financial data.
  • Familiarity with loan origination and profitability metrics.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and competitive market analysis.
