Financial Analyst

Overview

This full-time, entry-level remote role is for a Financial Analyst supporting analysis of actual performance, expected results, and the factors driving differences between plans and outcomes. Accuracy and clear communication are essential throughout the work.

Responsibilities

• Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so the work remains understandable and reusable.
• Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
• Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
• Support budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
• Improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
• Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
• Ensure financial models and schedules remain understandable after the immediate task is complete by using clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas.

Requirements

• Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
• Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind financial changes.
• Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
• Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
• Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
• Good judgment when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent, including investigating the source, documenting limitations, and avoiding overstating uncertainty.
