Overview

This role involves working as a Financial Analyst in a remote setting for the United States (full time). Salary range: $66,000–$74,000 per year.

The position combines spreadsheet-based analysis with careful review of assumptions, variances, and financial trends. You will help stakeholders understand both what changed and why it may matter.

Work includes routine reporting and forward-looking analysis. Some tasks follow regular financial cycles, while others require comparing scenarios, investigating variances, and connecting financial results to the operating activity behind them.

Variance analysis focuses on more than identifying whether a number is higher or lower. Where information allows, you will help identify operational or financial drivers behind the movement and explain whether the difference appears temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.

Responsibilities

  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
  • Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
  • Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Ensure financial models and schedules remain understandable after completion by using clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas.
  • As recurring reports and planning cycles become familiar, look for opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen documentation.
  • Maintain dependable communication and self-management in a remote environment by organizing work, responding to update requests, and using shared digital tools to keep responsibilities visible and handoffs clear.

Requirements

  • Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
  • Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
