Overview

This entry-level Financial Analyst role supports recurring financial reporting and helps answer questions about revenue, expenses, budgets, forecasts, and operating performance. Work includes analyzing plan vs. actual results, identifying contributing accounts or operating factors, verifying underlying information, and communicating findings with appropriate context.

Forecasting requires clear, visible assumptions and the ability to present alternative scenarios when a single estimate could create a false sense of precision—especially when outcomes depend on variables that may change.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
  • Support improvements to recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Perform variance analysis beyond identifying whether results are higher or lower—where information allows, identify operational or financial drivers and assess whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
  • As you become familiar with recurring reports and planning cycles, identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen documentation, and make financial information easier for colleagues to review and use.

Requirements

  • Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
  • Dependable communication and self-management due to the remote nature of the role, including organizing work, responding to reasonable update requests, and using shared digital tools to keep responsibilities visible and handoffs clear.
