Overview

This role involves working as a Financial Analyst on financial performance reporting and analysis. The position supports the creation of clear views of actual performance, expected results, and the factors driving differences between plans and outcomes. Accuracy and clear communication are essential.

Financial models and schedules should remain understandable after the immediate task is complete, with clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas to support review and reduce the risk of unnoticed errors.

Assignments may include updating a forecast, reviewing actual results against a budget, preparing a management report, or testing how changes in assumptions affect expected outcomes. You will organize inputs, check calculations, and summarize the most meaningful drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods and explain meaningful variances.
  • Help improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
  • Conduct variance analysis beyond stating that a number is higher or lower; when information allows, identify operational or financial drivers and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.

Requirements / Skills

  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Comfort learning company-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing analysis.
  • Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind a financial change.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
  • Good judgment when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent, including investigating the source, documenting limitations, and avoiding presenting uncertain results as more precise than they are.
