Overview
This role is for a Financial Analyst supporting forecasting, budgeting, and ongoing financial reporting. The work blends spreadsheet-based analysis with careful review of assumptions, variances, and financial trends, helping stakeholders understand what changed and why it matters.
- Location: Remote - United States
- Job Type: Full Time
- Compensation: $70,000-$78,000 per year
Responsibilities
- Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
- Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
- Improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
- Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
- Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
Additional expectations:
- Forecasting involves uncertainty—assumptions should be visible rather than hidden inside calculations.
- Present alternative scenarios when a single estimate could create a false sense of precision.
- Perform variance analysis beyond stating whether numbers are higher or lower; where possible, identify drivers behind the movement and determine whether the difference appears temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
- Identify what changed, understand the assumptions behind the result, and communicate implications without overstating what the information can prove.
Requirements
- Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
- Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind a financial change.
- Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
- Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
- Dependable communication and self-management (organize work, respond to reasonable update requests, and use shared digital tools to keep responsibilities and handoffs clear).
