Overview
This role supports budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial performance analysis. The position is designed for someone who can handle financial information with care and explain what the numbers mean in practical terms.
You will create work products that remain understandable after completion—using clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas so others can review the work and updates don’t introduce unnoticed errors.
Responsibilities
- Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, explaining meaningful variances.
- Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
- Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
- Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
- Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
- Perform variance analysis beyond identifying higher/lower amounts by helping identify operational or financial drivers, and explaining whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
Requirements
- Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
- Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
- Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind a financial change.
- Clear written communication skills, including the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
- Good judgment when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent, including investigating the source, documenting limitations, and avoiding overstating uncertain results.
