Overview

This role is for a Financial Analyst.

  • Location: Remote — United States
  • Job Type: Full Time
  • Salary: $68,000-$76,000 per year

The work focuses on organizing financial information into clear views of actual performance, expected results, and the factors driving differences between plans and outcomes. Accuracy and clear communication are important throughout.

Variance analysis should go beyond stating whether a number is higher or lower. Where the information allows, you will help identify the operational or financial drivers behind movement and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.

You may move between financial statements, spreadsheet schedules, operating metrics, and forecast assumptions during the same week. Calculations must be checked, assumptions must be clear, and conclusions must support decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Clear written communication skills, including the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind financial changes.

Forecasting involves uncertainty, so assumptions should be visible rather than hidden inside calculations. You should be comfortable presenting alternative scenarios when a single estimate could create a false sense of precision—particularly when outcomes depend on variables that may change.
