Overview

This role supports budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis of business performance. The work focuses on producing accurate financial analysis and clearly explaining what the numbers mean in practical terms.

  • Location: Remote — United States
  • Job Type: Full Time
  • Compensation: $67,000–$75,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods and explain meaningful variances.
  • Update forecasts and review actual results against budget, when assigned.
  • Organize inputs, check calculations, and summarize the most meaningful drivers.

Forecasting involves uncertainty; assumptions should be visible rather than hidden inside calculations. Where information allows, identify the operational or financial drivers behind variances and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
