Overview
This role supports the administration, financial management, and analysis of commission and incentive compensation programs. The analyst will help ensure incentive calculations and payouts are accurate, timely, well-controlled, and aligned with approved plan terms and business objectives. Work will be performed in close partnership with Compensation, HR, Payroll, Sales, Operations, and Finance, with additional support for broader FP&A projects as needed.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile incentive calculations to source data, plan terms, and financial results.
- Maintain employee eligibility and manage compensation-plan parameters including plan assignments, goals, rates, thresholds, and related items.
- Analyze the performance and cost of existing commission and incentive plans, including attainment trends, payout distributions, and return on incentive investment.
- Partner with Compensation, HR, Payroll, Sales, Operations, and Finance to model proposed plan changes and quantify financial, operational, and employee impact before and after implementation.
- Support forecasting, budgeting, accruals, and variance analysis for incentive compensation expense.
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to provide visibility into plan performance, payout trends, and financial exposure.
- Establish and perform controls designed to identify data and calculation errors.
- Maintain plan documentation, calculation methodologies, approval records, and other materials needed to support a clear audit trail.
- Support the annual incentive-plan design, implementation, testing, and communication process.
- Identify opportunities to automate calculations, improve data quality, strengthen controls, and streamline incentive compensation processes.
- Participate in broader FP&A analysis and system-improvement initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, analytics, or a related quantitative field.
- 2+ years of experience in FP&A, compensation analytics, financial analysis, sales operations, payroll analytics, or a related field.
- Strong Excel and financial-modeling skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with careful attention to detail and accuracy.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ability to reconcile and validate information across multiple systems and large datasets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain compensation calculations and financial analysis clearly.
- Ability to manage recurring deadlines, confidential information, and multiple priorities with limited supervision.
- Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively across Finance, HR, Payroll, Sales, and Operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with incentive compensation platforms.
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, Microsoft Fabric, or JD Edwards.
