Overview
A fund administration organization is seeking a Fund Accounting Senior Associate to support accounting, valuation, and reporting functions for over 29,000 funds. These funds include syndicates, venture funds, and rolling funds, with assets under administration exceeding $23 billion. The role involves preparing fund accounting work that is not yet automated, resolving exceptions, addressing investor inquiries, and researching technical issues.
This position is fully remote for candidates located in the United States or Canada.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate portfolio company events and data to determine appropriate valuation actions for each investment.
- Assist in preparing both audited and unaudited financial statements and collaborate with audit firms to complete annual audits.
- Ensure accounting treatment for portfolio company investments complies with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and assess special situations.
- Maintain and update the investment tracking system to ensure accuracy.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance automation and improve processes.
- Take direct responsibility for specific team functions and workflows.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects as needed.
Requirements
- 3 to 4+ years of operational experience in the financial sector, including fund administration and public accounting.
- CPA license is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with portfolio companies and lead investors.
- Experience performing fund accounting for crypto-focused funds.
- Experience reconciling digital asset positions and transactions across multiple exchanges, custodians, on-chain wallets, and DeFi platforms is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify corner cases.
- Strong organizational skills and a systematic approach to managing a large portfolio of investments.
- Willingness to engage in detailed data work and problem-solving.
- Mastery of core financial concepts and a strong interest in venture finance, including legal, accounting, tax, and finance components.
- Adaptability and a positive attitude toward continuous change and process improvement.
