Overview

A growing construction organization is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to support a critical SAP S/4HANA implementation. This role involves partnering with finance leadership and IT to manage the post–go-live SAP S/4HANA environment, focusing on stabilization, optimization, and enhancements. The Controller will oversee financial workflows, controls, and data integrity while supporting project accounting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and revenue recognition.

This position is ideal for a senior finance professional with hands-on SAP S/4HANA experience in a construction or project-based environment who can bridge controllership, systems, and IT. The role is primarily hybrid based in Pennsauken, NJ, though fully remote candidates will be considered with periodic travel to New Jersey.

Responsibilities

Provide post–go-live financial ownership of the SAP S/4HANA environment, supporting stabilization, optimization, and ongoing enhancements.
Support and refine percentage-of-completion accounting and revenue recognition processes within SAP for project-driven workstreams.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to project accounting, work-in-progress (WIP), billing, and revenue recognition accuracy.
Collaborate closely with Finance, IT, and SAP support teams to optimize service orders, financial workflows, and reporting after go-live.
Act as a liaison between Finance and IT to ensure continued alignment on system behavior, controls, and accounting outcomes.
Recommend and implement best practice improvements for SAP financial configurations in a construction or project-based environment.
Support ongoing testing, validation, and change management efforts for post–go-live enhancements and process improvements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience leading an SAP S/4HANA implementation, preferably within a construction or project-based organization.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on accounting and/or finance experience.
Strong experience designing service orders and workflows in SAP.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, IT, and other business stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial requirements into technical solutions.
