Investment Accounting Manager

Overview

Remote position. The investment accounting manager will lead the “OPR clean” workstream as program lead. This role involves directing the current EXL team, diagnosing root causes for underperformance, and implementing corrective actions. Success requires structured project governance, stakeholder management, and team leadership to stabilize operations and achieve defined remediation milestones.

Responsibilities

• Own and lead the OPR clean workstream as program manager, defining clear objectives, timelines, and success metrics.
• Assess current-state processes, controls, and deliverables to identify failure points and remediation priorities.
• Direct and coach the EXL team to improve execution quality, throughput, and accountability.
• Establish governance routines, status reporting, RAID management, and stakeholder communications.
• Design and implement process improvements, control enhancements, and documentation standards.
• Coordinate cross-functional dependencies across accounting, operations, technology, and reporting teams.
• Track and report progress against milestones, escalating risks and issues with actionable mitigation plans.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting policies and operational control frameworks.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading complex remediation, transformation, or stabilization programs within investment accounting or financial operations.
• Demonstrated people leadership, including oversight of vendor or managed-service teams and performance turnaround initiatives.
• Strong project and program management skills, including experience establishing structured governance and reporting processes.
• Ability to identify root causes and implement practical process and control improvements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level reporting.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA, CFA, or other relevant professional certification preferred.
• Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Accounting/Finance) is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

• Rate: $85.00–$100.00/hr. (W2)
• W2 consultants: Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage; 401(k) with company match; life insurance.
• Can facilitate W2 and corp-to-corp consultants.
