Investment Banking AI Research Contributor

Overview

The organization is looking for Subject Matter Experts with experience in investment banking, credit, structured finance, restructuring, or equity research. This role involves creating realistic Excel tasks that test how well AI systems perform key modeling work commonly done by banking or research analysts—especially in cases where model outputs break when financing assumptions change.

Responsibilities

• Write realistic Excel tasks based on your own deal, credit, and research experience, including:
  • Extending existing models
  • Fixing broken models
  • Building models from a brief
• Complete each task yourself to ensure there is a clear, correct answer.
• Define a precise yes-or-no criterion that can be automatically graded against any attempt.

Requirements (Necessary Skills)

• 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
  • Investment banking, credit, structured finance, project finance, restructuring, equity research
• Deep hands-on Excel experience, including:
  • Purchase accounting
  • Calendarisation
  • Circular references
  • Goal seek
  • Nested formulas
  • Financial functions
• Clear, written task creation—tasks must be written by you (not by AI tools).
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn AI and evaluation concepts.

• Attend the walkthrough and create one original task from your own work.
• Submit:
  • The task brief
  • The required input workbook(s) needed to complete the task
  • A write-up of the expected result
• Input-file uploads are compulsory.

Submission Rules

• Write the brief yourself (no AI drafting, rewriting, or polishing).
• Input workbooks must be human-built.
• Use real data that has been sanitised, or public data with the source named.
• Only submit materials you are authorized to share, with all confidential employer, client, and personal information removed, including from:
  • Hidden sheets
  • Comments
  • Pivot caches
  • External links

Review & Onboarding

• Tasks are submitted for automated screening and team review.
• Your task is run against current AI models used for evaluations.
• If the models get it wrong, you will write a detailed yes-or-no rubric; a reviewer will sign off on the task with you.
• Any requested revisions must be completed through your account.
• Completing onboarding does not guarantee a job offer; selection remains subject to review of the task proposal.
