This nonprofit organization specializes in whole-person mental health, crisis care, and substance use services. Established in 1942, it operates the nation’s first Suicide Prevention Center and delivers care to approximately 270,000 individuals annually. This Junior Financial Analyst position provides in-depth financial analysis beyond routine reporting. The role supports strategic decision-making by identifying trends, performing ad-hoc analyses, and presenting clear financial insights to leadership. As an individual contributor, it helps drive internal data execution and collaborates with the team to strengthen financial understanding across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and reviewing the agency budget, analyzing historical trends for future projections
- Support contract renewal processes, including amendments and budget modifications
- Perform data modeling and trend analysis for operating and strategic plans, including forecasts
- Analyze and optimize financial models, worksheets, and databases for tracking and reporting
- Provide financial support and preliminary analysis for specialized projects
- Produce monthly budget monitoring reports, investigating budget-to-actual variances
- Prepare and publish monthly operating management reports highlighting key financial trends
- Assist in preparing financial statements and contract-based cost reports
- Conduct financial reporting and ad-hoc data analysis to support strategic decisions
- Monitor monthly expenses to identify anomalies, cost-saving opportunities, or budget overages
- Perform other related analytical and operational tasks as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 0-3 years of relevant experience
- Foundational understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Familiarity or willingness to learn reporting tools similar to Power BI
- Basic knowledge of budget development, cost projections, and reporting requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, with ability to prepare executive presentations
- Strong communication skills for building relationships and presenting information clearly
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Commitment to team objectives and organizational philosophies
- Ability to adapt by acquiring new skills and knowledge
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $31.03 to $35.69 per hour
