Overview
This role is for a Senior/Lead Financial Analyst on the Expense Planning team within the USRM FP&A function. The position involves supporting the expense planning and forecasting process, partnering closely with Finance leadership to produce budgets, develop financial forecasts, and inform key decisions to achieve strategic goals. The analyst will independently own key components of the expense planning process.
Responsibilities
- Support quarterly forecasting and annual planning processes for the Finance organization, including credit card fees and charge-offs, ensuring timely deliverables and escalating issues as needed.
- Develop ad hoc and ongoing financial forecasts and models to assist leadership decision-making, effectively communicating trends and outcomes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to incorporate key trends and expectations into current year forecasts, proactively identifying opportunities to close gaps to expense targets and drive savings.
- Work closely with the Results & Insights team to understand monthly results trends and incorporate them into forward-looking forecasts.
- Continuously assess business value and efficiency of work performed, suggesting and implementing improvements.
- Oversee budgeting system (Anaplan), coordinate enhancements, and assist in resolving production issues.
- Lead or participate in complex department projects and continuous improvement activities, including the incorporation of AI into core work.
- Mentor teammates by sharing expertise, reviewing work, and providing performance feedback.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; CPA or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of finance experience.
- Experience in FP&A supporting expense forecasting, planning, and analysis.
- Proactive in identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to improve forecast accuracy and drive savings.
- Comfortable challenging the status quo to achieve better outcomes.
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Anaplan and one or more BI tools (e.g., Power BI) preferred.
- Ability to work independently with stakeholders to develop forecasts, analyze trends, and communicate insights to senior leaders.
- Strong interpersonal skills to promote discussion and collaboration across teams.
- Effective negotiation and communication skills to align project goals and schedules.
- Ability to lead meetings and present to larger audiences.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
