Overview
A nonprofit leader in health care innovation is seeking a Billing Specialist to provide accurate and timely revenue cycle and account management services to member clients. This role supports financial health by resolving claims issues, maintaining compliance with payer requirements, and contributing to continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Process claims, manage accounts receivable, and maintain documentation in compliance with payer guidelines and organizational systems.
- Investigate and resolve claim denials, identify trends, and contribute to process improvements to enhance reimbursement outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to clarify billing requirements and foster collaboration.
- Organize and prioritize daily billing activities using internal tools to ensure timely and efficient task completion.
- Apply foundational knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system and organizational solutions to billing operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience in billing and/or coding revenue cycle preferred.
- Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, MVA, Workers Compensation, and private insurance billing and reimbursement processes; legal requirements knowledge preferred.
- Experience billing for California highly preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) preferred.
- Dental billing experience preferred.
- Medical Billing Certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) preferred.
- For acute care hospital work, rural hospital experience is required.
- Candidates must complete a 50–60-minute competency assessment prior to team interview.
Work Location and Travel
- This is a 100% remote position with no physical corporate office.
- Employees work from home and may support member organizations on-site for new software installations.
- Nationwide travel up to 20% may be required based on business needs.

- High-speed internet service.
- Travel up to 20% nationally for on-site support may be required.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Frequent interpersonal communication, teamwork, customer service, creativity, mentoring, and presentations.
- Regularly required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, use hands and arms.
- Must work in a virtual home-office environment and be on camera for virtual meetings.
- Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers and mobile devices.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly pay range: $20.48 - $32.77.
- Compensation based on skills, certifications, education, experience, training, responsibilities, internal equity, and market data.
