Overview

This role involves processing payment discrepancies, including underpayments and overpayments, within a healthcare setting. The position requires reviewing, analyzing, and initiating appropriate actions to resolve payment variances.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize standards and guidelines to perform payment variance follow-up using an assigned work queue.
  • Analyze and research overpayments and underpayments with payers to determine and execute the best resolution approach.
  • Validate payment discrepancies using hospital billing revenue cycle management system calculations.
  • Identify and isolate payment variance trends and discrepancies, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Correspond with third-party payers, hospital departments, and patients to obtain information required for payment variance resolution.
  • Clearly document all actions taken during the resolution process.
  • Apply reimbursement concepts while researching and triaging payment variances.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Two or more years of experience in healthcare billing functions.
  • Knowledge and experience with healthcare revenue cycle systems and billing tools.
  • Proven track record of successful performance and goal achievement.
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Hiring range: $20.94 - $33.59 per hour, with final offer based on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
  • Non-exempt position.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Monday through Friday, Day Shift (8 hours).
  • Union: SHARE (State Healthcare and Research Employees).
  • This position may have a signing bonus; eligibility will be confirmed during the interview process.
