R&D Tax Credit Manager

Overview

• Job Type: Full-time
• Location: Greensboro, Raleigh, or Charlotte, NC or remote

This role involves serving as a Tax Credit Manager with expertise in federal tax consulting, specifically the Research and Development Tax Credit and the capitalization and amortization rules under IRC Section 174. The position also requires leading technical engagements and managing a team of tax consultants.

Responsibilities

• Provide tax consulting services related to the Research and Development Tax Credit and the capitalization and amortization rules under IRC Section 174
• Lead technical interviews with client subject matter experts
• Analyze accounting information and tour client facilities, then develop quantitative and qualitative documentation to support project results
• Deliver exceptional client service by building rapport and maintaining strong client relationships
• Manage a team of tax consultants and provide guidance on complex R&D tax issues
• Stay current on changes in federal tax laws and regulations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in accounting
• CPA highly preferred
• 4-6 years of experience in R&D tax credits required
• 4-6 years of experience in accounting methods preferred
• Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience managing multiple client engagements
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
• Strong data management skills
• Demonstrated initiative to continuously educate yourself in your specialty area
• Proficiency in computers and various accounting software programs
• Initiative, innovativeness, time management, and organizational skills
• Valid driver’s license with good motor vehicle record

Essential Physical Requirements

• Travel as needed, including driving
• Fine hand manipulation in keyboarding 5-7 hours per day
